This is my 4th first-aid course & best by far. The teaching technique was excellent and it was easy to digest.

Lynda, Level 3 Paediatric First Aid in Warwickshire
On behalf of my fellow colleagues I would just like to thank Dan for giving up his Sunday and coming out to update us all on our emergency at work first aid , I can honestly say that its the best first aid course I have been on that was very interesting, you had us all focused and made us all at ease from the moment you walked in till the time you left us. Thank you on behalf of the Wolverhampton Branch of Institute of chiropody and podiatrists. We will be recommending your company to everyone.

Lynn, Emergency First Aid at Work Course in Wolverhampton
We had the Fire Marshall training today with Keith, he was a great trainer. We have had some really positive feedback from the group and they all really enjoyed the training as a result.

Laura, Fire Marshall Warden Training in Lichfield
I am writing to offer some feedback around the recent training that Nigel recently received courtesy of SMBC Early Years. Nigel has a training background himself and he came back from the course full of compliments for ‘Glenn’ from First Response, he said the trainer was supportive, informative and very professional. He delivered the course at an even pace to cater for the participants learning need, he demonstrated patience when members in the group did not fully understand anything, the occasions for which were in themselves few and far between. The course was enjoyable and he certainly benefited from the updates that it included. We will be recommending your services.
Amanda, Paediatric First Aid Training course in Solihull
We would like to say a massive thank you to Dan Pedley. We are all in agreement that Dan Pedley’s excellent training & fantastic lessons will not be forgotten. In fact, we are all in agreement that we did not want it to end. We have all learned more today than what has ever been taught before on previous first aid courses. So, thank you First Response First Aid, but more importantly thank you Dan Pedley for your supreme, first class training. Keep up the awesome work! August 2018

Solihull MBC, First Aid at Work in Solihull
Absolutely fantastic! Can not recommend you enough. Put some humour and practicality into the days, but learned everything we needed to on a serious note. Thank you!

There’s a mind-boggling choice of first aid training available out there. Like us, many first aid providers offer a variety of first aid training solutions. So how do you know who to choose?
At LIVES, we genuinely believe that our experience enables us to offer some of the best first aid training and first aid courses available. We think that if someone’s survival could one day depend on what you’ve been taught, you should learn from the best. It’s that simple.
High-Risk Industries & Emergency Services
Life saving training. For life saving teams.
If you operate in a high-risk industry or emergency services space, your people may find themselves holding life in their hands. Very few organisations come close to us when it comes to specialist Casualty Care for Fire and Rescue and Police services training. Find out why here…

Act in the event of an accident at work. Learn the skills.
LIVES’ workplace training courses are designed to empower your workforce with the first aid skills and personal confidence to provide care in the event of a medical emergency. Our Educators save lives for a living. They can teach your teams to save them too.
Mental Health
Embed mental health training. Care for the mental wellbeing of colleagues.
As with a physical trauma or injury, having the skills to deliver fast and effective mental health first aid is essential to prevent long term harm. And with suicide rates and self-harm statistics also rising sharply, it could even save a life one day.
CPR (Community)
LIVES’ CPR courses are regulated and give you a nationally recognised qualification.
Sudden cardiac arrest is one the UK’s biggest killers. It can strike at any time. It can happen to anyone. And when it does happen, there isn’t any time to waste. Every minute without CPR being applied reduces the chance of a patient’s survival by 10%2. Think about that for a second.
Reasons to choose
- All our courses are accredited by Qualsafe, meaning you’ll get a certified qualification on successful completion.
- All our educators are experienced First Responders or Healthcare Professionals, meaning that they can provide you with real-life examples of medical emergencies.
- We can bring an Educator to your workplace, if there are six or more attendees.
- If you can’t see a course available that meets your specific requirements, we can provide bespoke programmes that are tailored to you.
Not only will you receive best-in-class training, you’ll also be supporting a long-standing Lincolnshire charity. Choosing LIVES you’ll be supporting our life-saving work throughout the community. Find a course now

A few commonly asked questions. Answered
Q. How do I choose the right first aid training for me?
A. Different roles. Different environments. Different statutory regulations. They all potentially call for different levels of first aid training. At LIVES we offer standardised courses and highly bespoke training too. That means whatever your individual requirement, we can provide training that fits perfectly.
Q. I need to be first aid trained for my job – is this something you can help with?
A. No problem. Our one-day Emergency First Aid at Work course, sometimes known as ‘EFAW’, is suitable for individuals looking to act as an emergency first aider in their workplace. This course is also ideal for those who want to learn first aid and CPR skills. We regularly run this course in different locations across Lincolnshire.
Q. I work with children and babies - do I need a different first aid qualification?
A. If you you’re a nursery nurse, childminder, teacher or teaching assistant working with young children or babies, you may need a Paediatric First Aid course. The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Statutory Framework requires all early years’ providers in England to have at least one person who has a current and full paediatric first aid certificate on the premises and available at all times, when children are present. We offer a two-day Paediatric First Aid course that can fulfil this requirement and train you in dealing with a range of paediatric first aid situations. We also provide a one-day Emergency Paediatric First Aid course which is suitable for anyone who has a child in their care at any time and to learn key paediatric first aid skills, such as baby CPR and child CPR and what to do if a child is choking.
Q. I’ve had first aid training previously, but my qualification has run out - do I need to retake the course?
A. Yes, if your qualification has expired, you are no longer eligible to act as a first aider and your qualification is out of date. We offer a specific First Aid at Work Requalifying course just for this. Most first aid qualifications last three years, but it is recommended that you undertake annual refresher courses to keep your knowledge and skills up-to-date and ensure you are still competent to perform the role. Refresher courses usually only last half a day, we offer these for First Aid at Work and Paediatric First Aid.
Q. I work in a high-risk environment and want more than just first-aid training. Is this something LIVES can provide?
A. Absolutely. We can support you and key members of your team to achieve a nationally recognised qualification, provided in partnership with the ATAC Group. This will equip your teams with clinical level skills far beyond those covered with first-aid training. To discuss your specific requirements, Get in touch today.

2-Day Course
This 2-day First Aid at Work course is designed for those who currently hold a First Aid at Work qualification and are due to expire.
Please consider the following rules for attendance:
A First Aider can renew their First Aid at Work qualification by attending a 2-day requalification course without question, if it’s within 1 month past the expiry date
If the First Aider has lapsed by more than 1 month, but no longer than 3 months, then the First Aider can requalify by attending a 2-day course providing ‘Special considerations’ have been applied
Special considerations are:
A signed letter from the employer to the provider of the training stating the reasons why in their opinion, the First Aider is suitably experienced to attend a 2-day course and does not require a full 3-day FAW course
A decision is made by the provider of the training after discussions with the employer, or the First Aider, and deciding that their previous experience is sufficient to attend a 2-day course
If the First Aider has lapsed beyond 3 months then they must attend a full 3-day First Aid at Work course
The important thing to remember is that as soon as the certificate expires, the First Aider is no longer considered competent to act as a First Aider in the workplace which may well leave the employer with a shortfall of First Aiders. Therefore, it would be prudent to arrange their First Aid at Work Requalification before they expire.
3-Day Course
It is a requirement of the Health & Safety law that employers provide a safe and healthy environment to work in. If your assessment of first aid needs highlights the need for qualified first aiders, then this level 3 qualification (level 6 in Scotland) will provide you with suitable, highly trained personnel.
This comprehensive three-day course covers a wide range of first aid emergencies, enabling all participants to deal with emergency situations with confidence in a prompt, safe and effective way. In addition, this course will include any protocol changes that may have arisen since their last training course.
This course will give the participants a qualification to the highest level of First Aid, meeting the statutory requirements of the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981.
Course Duration
This course runs over 18 hours spread over at least 3 days. Ideally, the course should be run over three consecutive days, but we have the flexibility to accommodate your specific needs if you so desire providing it is completed within 10 weeks of starting the course and the training sessions last for a minimum of two hours.
Course Content
A range of subjects are covered including:
Legalities, responsibilities and reporting
Heart attacks
Dealing with an unresponsive casualty
Eye injuries
Fractures and spinal injuries
Control of bleeding
Chest injuries
Assessment of the situation
Shock (including Anaphylaxis)
Head injuries
Sprains and strains
Resuscitation

Certification
Successful qualification on this course is based on practical assessments conducted throughout the course and written test papers each day. A three year Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work will be issued to the learner, subject to successful assessment. No external assessors are required.
This qualification lasts for 3 years. To renew the qualification, learners will need to sit the FAW Re-Qual course. However, it is recommended that during the 3-year period, the learners attend annual refresher courses.
