How to Find a Movie Theater Near You
If you’re ready for a fun night out at the movies, it all starts with choosing where to go and what to see. From national chains to local movie theaters, there are tons of different choices available. Here are the best ways to find a movie theater near you.
Fandango is the leader in the movie theater ticketing business. So naturally, the website is a great place to go to figure what the current movies are in theaters right now. The theater search is very simple, just enter your city or zip code. It will then populate a list of the theaters nearest to you, including all of the movies playing and their show times.
Local Discount Theaters
If seeing the new theater movie release isn’t as important as going out without breaking the bank, check out your local discount theaters. These can be more difficult to locate, because there’s no national directory of them. However, you can simply do a Google search for them. Typically called “Discount” theaters or “Second-Run” theaters, there’s typically several in most cities. If you’re a beer lover, you may be able to locate theaters that serve restaurant food and drinks rather than the usual theater fare.
In addition to housing one of the most trusted movie ratings online, IMDB offers information on movie theaters and their showtimes. Simply set your location and see a list of available theaters and showtimes. A bonus is that you can easily see the IMDB ratings for different movies, so you can have a good idea of whether something will be to your liking or not before heading out.
IMAX Theaters
IMAX theaters offer a more immersive movie experience than traditional theaters. From bigger screens, better images and realistic audio, some of the best new movies are better viewed in IMAX. It’s the best option for movie connoisseurs that simply want the ultimate experience. To check your local theater’s 3D movie schedule, check the IMAX website and enter your address under the “Find a Theatre” tab.
3D Theaters
Major movie theater chains offer Real3D movies, which are super fun for both adults and kids. Simply wear 3D goggles and enjoy an added dimension to regular flicks. AMC, Cinemark and Regal Cinemas all offer this option, which is available for select films.
The technology is all digital and theaters are typically available in major cities. Just like local discount theaters, there’s not a single comprehensive resource for the 3D theaters. So the best way to find them is on Fandango or Google.

You can join the panelist from Times of Fire, Dr. David A. deSilva, on The “Footsteps of Paul” cruise which combines some of the most beautiful sights in the Mediterranean with some of the most important archaeological sites relevant to the New Testament and early church. These are the locations the cruise will be visiting.
Athens, Center of Greek Civilization

Our itinerary takes us to Athens, center of Greek civilization and culture in the Classical age, where Paul proclaimed the new faith in the shadow of the acropolis, the bastion of the old faith that his gospel challenged. We will tour the Acropolis and the Areopagus, where Paul defended himself against the charge of introducing new deities (the very charge on which Socrates had been arraigned four centuries before). If time permits, we will also visit the agora, the sight of whose temples so troubled Paul.
So Paul, standing in the midst of the Areopagus, said: “Men of Athens, I perceive that in every way you are very religious. – Acts 17:22 (ESV)
Corinth, Where Paul Ministered for Two Years

We will tour ancient Corinth, site of Paul’s ministry for two years and location of the congregations whose troublesome actions and interactions blessed us with two lengthy letters of Paul in response. The site has been exceptionally well excavated, allowing us to recover a detailed picture of the lived world of these congregations and make vital connections between the architecture, the issues Paul addressed in his letters, and events in Paul’s time in the city. The site also boasts a fine archaeological museum rich in artifacts from the Roman period.
Ephesus, Hub of the Eastern Mediterranean

The highlight of the cruise will be a day in ancient Ephesus, perhaps the most extensively excavated biblical site in the eastern Mediterranean. Many of the site features flesh out our picture of facets of Paul’s ministry — for example, the commercial agora and the theater famous from Acts 19. Others are important also for our understanding of the lived context of the Book of Revelation, for example the remains of temples to Julius, Augustus, and Domitian, where the worship of the image of the beast occurred with great pomp, popularity, and regularity, as well as the commercial agora and the great roads leading to the harbor, along which John could watch the “cargoes of gold, silver, jewels and pearls, fine linen, purple, silk and scarlet; articles of scented wood, of ivory, of costly wood, bronze, iron, and marble; cinnamon, spice, incense, myrrh, frankincense, wine, olive oil, choice flour and wheat, cattle and sheep, horses and chariots, slaves (indeed, human lives)” heading to Rome to feed the implacable appetite of the great prostitute.
Pompeii, the Roman World Exquisitely Preserved

Although Pompeii is not a biblical site, there is no better site for those seeking an immersion into the Roman world. More than half of the city’s 160 acres have been fully excavated, opening windows into every aspect of the daily life of first-century people. There are the expected monuments of civic life — the temples, commercial and administrative forums, elegant bath houses, and the like. But there are also scores of city blocks of residences, both of the elite and the very much non-elite, of shops, of fast-food establishments, of bakeries and other small-scale industries. Our morning in Pompeii will add this invaluable perspective on the New Testament world. Time may permit an afternoon excursion to the magnificent Naples Archaeological Museum, where a good deal of the movable art and artifacts from Pompeii, Herculaneum, and archaeological excavations around Naples (ancient Neapolis) are housed.

Other Cruise Highlights
The itinerary allows for two days in Istanbul, where we will tour what was once the Church of Hagia Sophia, the jewel of the Byzantine empire, as well as grand mosques. For those who are willing to forgo a visit to Topkapi Palace, I will lead a side excursion to the Istanbul Archaeological Museum where, among other treasures, we will see the only surviving, full inscription of the warning set around the precincts of the Jerusalem Temple warning Gentiles to set foot no further.
We will also enjoy the more leisurely sights and activities to be found in Taormina, Sicily, Santorini, and Mykonos. Our home for the duration will be the Celebrity Reflection, an opulent haven for relaxation and entertainment between excursions. Prices listed include the Classic Beverage Package, onboard gratuities, and unlimited WiFi.
Consider joining this fabulous excursion into the New Testament world – as well as into the beauty of the modern Mediterranean. For more detailed information you can go here: http://www.eo.travelwithus.com/tours/gc22052222a#.YjMwgNXML3g
Don’t forget to get your ticket to see The 7 Churches of Revelation: Times of Deception Part II . These opportunities and films allow you to keep thinking!

7 Churches of Revelation: Times of Fire
An investigative filmmaker examines the letters of Christ given to the Apostle John to share with the 7 Churches of Revelation, hoping to find connections to current world events. Traveling to Turkey to uncover archeological insights into the 1st Century Church, he discovers keys to their persecution by the Roman Empire. Scholars and theologians weigh-in to connect these ancient churches to the modern Church of today. Are we ready for Times of Fire?
Dove Review
Of all the places that the Lord Jesus could’ve chosen to reveal Himself as King of Kings and Lord of Lords, it was a little island in the Aegean Sea, as famous now as it was remote and unheralded then. Not Jerusalem. Not Rome. A little island called Patmos.
That’s where the Apostle John, who’d proven himself faithful throughout the years by taking in Jesus’ own mother and by recording smaller revelations — the Gospel that bears his name, as well as 1 John, 2 John and 3 John — received visions of things to come in his old age. He was there, having been exiled by the Romans “because of the word of God and the testimony of Jesus.”
So that’s where a French investigative filmmaker named Christophe Hanauer ventured — a place still remote and unheralded — in search of the meaning behind Jesus’s letters to the seven churches of Revelation — Ephesus, Smyrna, Pergamum, Sardis, Thyatira, Philadelphia and Laodicea. Just his ambling through historical sites is fascinating, even though he only gets to the first three stops in this documentary. The other four churches were scheduled to be examined in documentaries to come in 2022 and 2023.
With the help of local scholars, theologians and ministers, Hanauer takes us into a cave that local tradition says is where John saw the vision, to the place where he prayed, meditated and slept. He takes us into a monastery where one of the oldest copies of the Gospel of Mark is kept.
But it isn’t just for the history that Hanauer made this trip to the island and then to western Turkey, where those seven churches were based. His idea is to tie the past to the present and to the things which are to come. The idea is for the viewer to ask himself and herself, “Are we ready to stand strong for Christ, no matter what?”
Hanauer says he came away from his trip with a renewed understanding of what it costs to walk with Christ.
“The letters to the churches and the whole book of Revelation resonate as a tremendous encouragement and a strong call to believers to become victorious,” he says. “The victory described in the book of Revelation is not a promise for the believer to escape the test before them, but to face it head on, with faithfulness and courage, rooted in their first love of Christ.”
It is a thought-provoking trip that’s intended for us today, because Jesus invites those who have an ear to ear to eavesdrop on what the Spirit is saying to the churches. We all can find ourselves with kindred experiences to what those seven churches experienced, and the answers Jesus gave them should be considered lamps unto our feet as well. It merits our Dove-approved seal for All Ages.
The Dove Take
Just as it’s good to connect a name to a face, so is it good to connect a place to a word, and this documentary connects the dots in compelling fashion.
Dove Rating Details
The letters to the seven churches are mined for meaning in today's world, although only three — Ephesus, Smyrna and Pergamum — are covered at length in the documentary.
Tales of martyrdom and of Christians suffering grisly fates for refusing to compromise their stands for Jesus.
