Courses Under Social Work Degree

On this article, I am going to list out some Social Work course outlines in Nigeria Universities which you will study before you can to become a Social Work graduate. Normally, a course outline should contain; course name, course description, course hours etc… but I am going to skip that information and go straight to Social Work subjects for university students.

I will only list out the course names excluding  GST Courses and those courses with part II and III to avoid too much information. There is no guarantee that the listed Social Work subjects (courses) will be fully covered in your school because universities in Nigeria does not use a uniform curriculum.

Nevertheless, you will study 97% of Social Work courses listed here. The following Social Work courses listed here do not follow the traditional course structure and they have been arranged in alphabetical order. Notwithstanding, the list here covers 100 level courses, 200 level courses 300 courses and 400 level courses.

120 total credits required

Develop the knowledge and skills you need to launch your social work career. The online Bachelor of Arts in Social Work program at the University of Kentucky prepares you to pass clinical licensing exams with experienced faculty that provides the guidance to help you make an impact in your chosen field. You may transfer up to 67 credits from a two-year institution and complete the B.A. in Social Work in two years.

As a College of Social Work student, you’ll also receive exceptional academic support from our distinguished staff. All B.A. in Social Work academic advising is overseen by a licensed social worker, which lends a forward-looking career perspective to the educational process.

With over 1,000+ practicum sites, our field education allows students to find a setting in their community that aligns with their interests.

Our B.A. in Social Work curriculum is focused on social justice, strengths, and solutions. students have the opportunity to personalize their educational journey through a series of upper level electives designed to create depth of learning specific to the student’s area of interest. You also have the opportunity to complete an undergraduate certificate in Diversity and Inclusivity Awareness to gain an enriching, multidisciplinary academic experience through exposure to a variety of cultures and lived experiences.

UK Core – Gen Ed (10 Courses, 30 credits)

The UK Core Courses are (a) recommended by the college, or (b) required courses that also fulfill UK Core areas. Students should work closely with their advisor to complete the UK Core requirements.

Pre-Professional Courses (2 Courses, 6 credits)

Pre-major requirements (9 courses, 27 credits).

Complete Coursework in Sociology, Psychology, Political Science, Math, Logic, Biology, Economics, Anthropology, and Statistics.

Core Social Work Curriculum (44 credits)

Guided diversity, equity, and inclusion elective.

Our Bachelor of Social Work online curriculum includes a combination of classroom-style learning and hands-on fieldwork. This mixture of theoretical knowledge and real-world experience gives our graduates a competitive edge as they enter the workforce. BSW degree courses at UC Online focus on social welfare, human behavior, substance abuse counseling and mental health awareness.

Our dedicated faculty is comprised of social workers and professionals with experience in community projects related to poverty, homelessness, cancer, veteran affairs, foster care, protective services and more. At the School of Social Work, we are committed to ensuring your time in the academic program is both pleasant and successful. The Student Success Coordinator at UC Online will be available to help with any non-academic questions you may have.  Your Program Coordinator will help answer any academic-related questions as well as assist you with the course and career planning. UC Online and the School of Social Work are here to support and guide you throughout your time in the program.

Prior to beginning your first semester, you will be enrolled and required to complete an Online Orientation.  The Orientation will provide you with the knowledge and skills necessary to be successful in an online program. Additionally, an online Community Board will be available to you and includes links to various academic support resources such as the UC Writing Center and the UC Career Center.

Students outside the Greater Cincinnati/ Northern Kentucky area will work with the program Field Director to identify a suitable placement. This process is open to input, but suggested sites must be vetted before being approved.

Yes, the vast majority of our students work throughout their time in the academic program.  In the senior year, students are also expected to attend their field placement for 16 hours each week, typically during normal business hours.  It is important to assess course load and financial aid to understand how to balance school and work.
