Safe Working At Height & Rescue from Height

The aim of the course is to give the candidate the skills, knowledge and understanding to work safely at height/carry out a rescue from height using a selection of personal protective equipment and to perform the rescue of a colleague using a reach pole system.

The course is structured and progressive, allowing candidates to build their confidence in the equipment and themselves.

Candidates will be encouraged to carry out continuous risk assessment of their environment and task and will be challenged on their decisions.

MFRS instructors are nationally certified with vast amounts of experience and specialist knowledge in the above training.

This course is completed over 2 days at Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service’s Training and Development Academy, Storrington Avenue, Croxteth, Liverpool, L11 9AP.

Working at Heights Courses in Liverpool

The working at Heights course is about advising people who work at height understand and manage the risks involved from working at height and take precautions to avoid and reduce the risks involved.

This course is for you if, as part of your job you work at height, even if this is only occasionally. The course covers such subjects as identifying hazards and the most common causes of accidents and discusses alternative, safer ways of working at height. It also covers the safe use of safety harnesses along with harness inspection and rescue plans and procedures. Accidents relating from falls from height are one of the most common causes of workplace injuries and deaths which is why this course is so important. The working at Heights course is a half day course delivered to a maximum of 10 candidates and allows employers to give their operatives the training required to comply with the 2005 working at heights regulations, on passing the course delegates receive a Construction Skills People certificate valid for 3 years. To be eligible to attend this course you need to be aged 18+, be physically fit and have a good understanding of spoken English. The Working at heights course is normally run at an employer’s premises or site, where a classroom type environment is required in order that tutorials & theory exercises that the course is comprised of can be run.

Why should I take this course?

Anybody working at height must comply with the Working at Height Regulations 2005 . This course will help you to understand the regulations so that you can work in line with them. Companies seen dangerously working at height can face serious legal repercussions and bad press.

Although the regulations advise that you must avert from working at heights as much as feasible, you need to know how to conduct work safely when you do. Falls from height can be very dangerous, leading to potentially life-changing injuries and even death.
